Many parishioners have inquired about the status of the capital campaign. While the campaign is off to a fairly good start, we still have a way to go. Since the kickoff in September, just less than $120,000 has been pledged by about 40 families. Being that we are a parish community of well over 400 families, it is my prayerful hope that more parishioners will turn in pledge forms soon.
Considering the widow’s mite from the Gospel of Mark (Mk 12:38-44), we find encouragement from she who gave of her substance. While she may not have been able to give what others gave, while she may have placed much less money in the box than others, she truly gave all she could as an act of faith. Let each of us imitate that act of faith and illustrate just what total dependence on God really means within our faith community.
Many thanks are given to Lola Light and her committee for the successful Bake Sale of delicious treats which was held earlier this month. The ladies raised more than $300. Look for more bake sales in the future.
For those of you wondering about the “Taste and See” Cookbook, it is still in the works. Because the success of the cookbook is based on the number of recipes collected, the deadline has been extended. Please remember to drop your recipes in the recipe box in the church vestibule. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Jessica Mayer.
Thanks again for your support as we face this challenge of building a new church. As always, if you have any questions for me, please contact me at campaign@saintjosephcc.com.

Pledge Drive
As you contemplate and pray about our pledge drive, please bear in mind that anything that you can pledge would be of benefit to reaching our $2.5M goal.
A formal pledge tells the Diocese of Birmingham that our parishioners are united and set on achieving our goal. With documented pledges, the Diocese will be more willing to allow the church to begin the construction process earlier than planned since a pledge is considered to be a promise of cash coming into the church. Please commit to a pledge.

Capital Campaign Question & Answer Corner
Do you have a question for the Committee? Send it to campaign@saintjosephcc.com and we’ll provide an answer in an upcoming bulletin.
Today’s Question: Will Holy Family School be razed and built at the same time as the church sanctuary?
Answer: The Capital Campaign does not include Holy Family School. The long range plan does include a new building for the school. There will be a separate Capital Campaign called “ Restore the Mission” to make that goal occur.
The reason for this separate campaign is that the grade school is a Regional school that serves not only St. Joseph but also St. Mary of the Visitation and Our Lady, Queen of the Universe. With that broader charter, it was decided that the recipients of the Catholic education also have a stake in building for the future. Therefore, the school building capital campaign will be a separate, but possibly, concurrent endeavor.
