Renovation Committee – The Renovation Committee is using three basic guidelines in planning: 1. Low operating costs 2. Low maintenance costs 3. Preserve the history and tradition of St. Joseph Church and Holy Family School. All decisions that are made will be supported by these three guiding principals. We also want to make decisions that allow as much flexibility as possible for future needs.
Plans are proceeding on all phases of the renovation. The Renovation Committee has met with the firm that specializes in the survey of buildings that may contain asbestos that must be removed before demolition. A 90-minute tour was provided to this firm as an introduction to the facilities. They will provide the Renovation Committee with a proposal to perform an in-depth survey of all facilities so plans can be made to remove the asbestos in a safe manner. This survey will be necessary preliminary to applying for permits to perform the demolition.
Plans are about 85% complete on the new church. Several changes are being made to accommodate inclement weather situations and coordinated with Phase 2 (School construction). Initial exterior elevations are complete. We have started receiving samples of interior materials (carpet, etc.) to begin the task of coordinating color and material selection.

Pledge Drive
As you contemplate and pray about our pledge drive, please bear in mind that anything that you can pledge would be of benefit to reaching our $2.5M goal.
A formal pledge tells the Diocese of Birmingham that our parishioners are united and set on achieving our goal. With documented pledges, the Diocese will be more willing to allow the church to begin the construction process earlier than planned since a pledge is considered to be a promise of cash coming into the church. Please commit to a pledge.
